Step 5: Straighten and align tubes At this point, once you have all the tube leads trimmed, and the tubes installed loosely, you can check for aligment. Some tubes may fit next to each other better than others. Take this opportunity to rearrange the tubes if need be to get a good fit. Some tubes may be tilted. You can very carefully bend the tube straight, to match its neighbor.
You can only bend the tubes in place if they are not soldered at this point. Attempting to bend them after they are completely soldered will most likely crack a tube, rendering it useless. |
